Transforming legal work with automation and AI

Automation and artificial intelligence (AI) both present incredible opportunities to transform the way legal professionals work and can lead to improved efficiency, greater productivity, and, in turn, a better client experience. And while law firms are traditionally slow to adopt new technology, ignoring these innovations could mean they miss out on ways to streamline workflows and advance firm operations.

Adrienne Lester, Senior Director of the Business Services Go-to-Market Team at ShareFile, sat down with Catherine Sanders-Reach, Director of the Center for Practice Management at the North Carolina Bar Association, to talk about automation and AI — emerging areas for law firms that will require thoughtful, patient integration.

Check out our highlight video, watch clips from their discussion of AI and automation, and don’t miss their conversation on remote work, security, and tech adoption.

Embracing automation

When it comes to automation, there’s a lot of tech for firms to choose from, and the learning curve can be significant. That can keep firms from considering automation and can lead them to lose out on potential efficiencies. There are ways, however, to incorporate automation slowly, targeting recurring, time-consuming tasks so support staff have more time to focus on the work that matters most.

Getting comfortable with AI

And then there’s AI. Firms have legitimate concerns around security, privacy, and more, but it’s here to stay. That doesn’t mean firms have to go all-in on AI now. Like with automation, they can find opportunities to incorporate it into their work so they can get comfortable with it.
